The fixture between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners is a traditional curtain-raiser for the new season and takes place at Wembley.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has expressed his disappointed with the allocation the club have received for the Community Shield match against Manchester City on August 10 at 3pm.

The Gunners and City will both receive approximately 26,000 tickets with the price ranging between £20 and £45 for Arsenal fans.

Chief executive unimpressed

However, Gazidis has revealed his disappointed to www.arsenal.com, the chief executive said:

“We are all looking forward to playing Manchester City in the Community Shield. However, as with the FA Cup final, we are disappointed with the official allocation of only 26,000 tickets for this match.

“This means that both clubs will only officially receive a combined total of approximately 52,000 tickets, in a stadium which has a capacity of 90,000.

“The club will implement a ticket-allocation policy which will be as fair to all our supporters as possible, but we appreciate that many of our loyal supporters will be unable to obtain tickets for this match.

“We will be explaining our position to the FA and will try our best to obtain more tickets for our supporters.”

Gazidis comments will be welcome from Arsenal supporters and again it is nice of the club to back their supporters about the FA’s policy when it comes to allocation.

Hopefully Arsenal and the FA can come to some sort of agreement where more Gunners can fill Wembley for the opening match of the season.
