It seems Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of signing a new attacking player with one of the stars of the World Cup already having talks with Gunners boss Arsène Wenger.
Alexis Sánchez has arguably been one of the best players in Brazil this summer and has inspired Chile to shock Spain and reach the knock-out phase of the World Cup.
Wenger making early move
The 25-year-old has been nothing short of sensational and he may be in an Arsenal shirt next season if reports are to go by.
The Daily Express report that Wenger has met with the Chilean’s representatives in Brazil to mull over a potential move to the Emirates.
Liverpool and Manchester United are both interesting in the Barcelona man but the Gunners gaffer has seized the initiative by arranging a meeting with the forward.
Wenger is commentating in Brazil for TV station TF1 and has used his time on South American shores to make an early move for the Chile star.
£25 million move but are Barcelona willing to sell?
The Daily Telegraph state a fee of £25 million could prize Sánchez away from the Camp Nou although they report that Barcelona are reluctant to allow the hitman to leave.
However, Express refute those claims by suggesting the Chilean doesn’t get on well with Argentine Lionel Messi and therefore the Catalan club are listening to offers.
Can Wenger pull this out of the bag?
Either way, it is a welcome surprise to find out Wenger is making an early move for a player and not waiting until the last minute like usual.
Whether or not Sánchez joins Arsenal is hard to predict but there is no doubt he would be an exceptional signing if he World Cup performances and displays for Barcelona are anything to go by.
Now can Wenger deliver a signing that would send a signal of intent to the rest of our Premier League title rivals, lets hope so!
