Arsène Wenger is set to finally bolster Arsenal’s attacking options with a £32 million bid for Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez.

Extra Hot Chili

Sanchez, 25, moved to Barcelona in 2011 and after 88 appearances and 39 goals in his first three years, his starting place is still far from guaranteed for the Catalan outfit.

With rumours gathering pace that disgraced Liverpool forward Luis Suarez is set to join the Spanish club in a deal worth around £80 million, Barcelona will be looking to offload one of their star players to fund the move.

While the Anfield side are looking for a deal that could include Sanchez joining them in a cash plus player exchange, Goal.com claim that the club are ready to make the Chilean World Cup star their main target this season by starting a bidding war with an opening offer of £32 million.

Swift Business

Previous stories claim that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis and contract negotiator Dick Law travelled to Madrid in May in order to thrash out a deal with Sanchez’ representatives.

Whether Barcelona will decide to let Sanchez leave for Arsenal’s offered sum remains to be seen, after the full international took his side to the last-16 in Brazil with his two goals and one assist.

Manager Arsène Wenger is thought to be a big fan of Sanchez, who he has watched countless times through his media duties for France during this summer’s tournament.

Forward Thinking

With Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo still questioned by the fans, as well as Theo Walcott’s fitness issues and Lukas Podolski’s positional uncertainty, a striker is top of the wish list for the North London club.

It may be a long shot, but if the Gunners can snap up a world-class player such as Sanchez for a reasonable price, it would attract even further talent for the side to add to their already competitive squad.

Arsenal want to be competing in all four competitions next season and with the addition of Alexis Sanchez, they can do so with the comfort of consistency, flair and a bucket load of goals.
