French international and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is for Arsenal transfer, according to French journalist Francois Pinet.
World Beater
The 24-year old is currently on international duty at the World Cup in Brazil, under the watchful eye of Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who has used his media duties to watch the potential Gunners star.
Reports surfaced last night that Wenger has won the race to sign the consistent midfielder, French journalist Francois Pinet tweeting that his sources indicate a move to North London.
Mobile Midfielder
Le Professeur fueled speculation of the transfer, after a fan on his mobile chased the boss along the beach in Rio de Janeiro, begging Wenger to not sign Southampton’s key player of last season.
With a trademark smile to the camera, it looks as though discussions between Arsenal and Southampton have reached a satisfying conclusion, although any deal may be delayed until the end of France’s World Cup campaign.
Schneiderlin himself was cryptic on Friday, The Metro claiming that he believes,
“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”
“We’ll see how things go but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.”
Solid Squad Signing
Despite the flurry of attacking midfielders in Arsenal’s squad, the makeshift anchor of Mikel Arteta and the aging Mathieu Flamini give a strong demand for a defensive midfielder to join the squad.
At a reasonable price and with Premier League experience, Morgan Schneiderlin would provide good back-up for the squad and gives Wenger and Arsenal a midfield option for the long term.
