Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira is subject to heavy interest from the Arsenal hierarchy, who are keen to reunite the star with ex teammate and close friend Mesut Özil.

Sprechen sie Arsenal?

The former Stuttgart player moved to Spain in 2010, but after a season hampered by injuries at the Bernabéu, has found himself frozen out the set-up and is looking for a fresh start move this summer.

The Sun report that Khedira is still valued by his team at £23 million, a hefty sum for an injury prone 27 year-old who has struggled to live to the expectation surrounding his original transfer to Madrid.

Football Friend

One thing that will increase Arsène Wenger’s interest in him is the fact that ex Real Madrid teammate, German international peer and close friend Mesut Özil, is currently plying his trade in the Premier League with the Gunners.

When Özil originally departed for North London, Khedira claimed that,

Personally, I feel bad about Mesut’s transfer. We are very, very good friends.”

"His departure is a loss also from a sporting perspective. Mesut can make the difference.”

Golden Gunner

With Manchester United and Chelsea also circling the versatile midfielder, Arsenal will be keen to complete a deal as soon as he returns from the World Cup in Brazil.

Arsenal’s midfield is in dire need of a fresh approach to their defensive midfield, Sami Khedira being a pricey, but experienced signing that could add that piece of quality to allow the side’s attacking talent to flourish with no shackles.
