Arsenal’s former record signing and midfield maestro Santi Cazorla is set to be handed a dilemma, after La Liga champions Atlético Madrid have signalled their intent in signing the silky star.

Silky Spaniard

29 year-old Cazorla has been at the Gunners for two years, his 16 goals in 69 appearances, as well as his free-kick heroics in May’s FA Cup final win, attracting potential suitors from his homeland.

AS report that Atlético are keen to add the €20 million valued Cazorla to their midfield ranks, after the player recently refused to be drawn on the subject of his future whilst away in Brazil for the World Cup.

As reported by Arsenal Latest earlier this month, Cazorla stated that,

“When the World Cup is over, I’ll start thinking about my situation.”

“I don’t want to be thinking about it right now and I’ve told my agents not to tell me anything if an offer comes in.”

One in, one out

It is thought that Cazorla would be willing to make the jump overseas in order to play alongside Spanish teammate Juanfran and Uruguayan defender Godin, as well as the chance to go back home in the latter stages of his career.

However, Atlético will want to free up funds to afford the move and may look to offload Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea target Arda Turan for some budget breathing space.

Ironically, former Arsenal linked striker Adrián could be sold to Valencia in other efforts to give manager Diego Simeone more money.

Alternatively, Arsène Wenger may be interested in seeing if a player swap deal may be explored, in light of his sides search for a front man to complement Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo.

Time to say goodbye

Supporters will be hoping that speculation on Cazorla’s future is false and that his exciting presence will remain at the Emirates Stadium for years to come.

Despite this, the emergence of Aaron Ramsey, development of Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, as well as the presence of Tomas Rosicky and Mesut Özil, Cazorla may feel that his time at Arsenal has come to an abrupt end.
