Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez has put Arsenal in pole position for his signature, after letting his club know that he is not interested in a move to Liverpool this summer.

Soppy Sanchez

Sanchez, now back from a successful World Cup campaign with his country, is reportedly upset at the prospect of being an add-on in any potential Barcelona deal for Luis Suarez during the transfer window.

While The Express claim that the Gunners bid £22 million last week for the Chilean superstar, they report today that the Catalan based side will only consider offers of £32 million or above.

Money in his pocket

With the Puma deal now in place and a reported £100 million at Arsène Wenger’s disposal, the club are prepared to offer Sanchez a lucrative sign on fee to lure him to the Emirates in time for the new season.

It is thought that Sanchez’ first choice of club is Arsenal, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague confirming his preference in a tweet yesterday afternoon.

This personal agreement may include a wage of what The Metro claim could rise up to £130,000, putting Sanchez among the highest earners at Arsenal alongside record signing Mesut Özil.

Short-term pain for long-term gain

With chief negotiator Richard Law wanting to secure the player on a six-year contract, journalist Graham Hunter warns the North London side that business must be done swiftly in order to avoid disappointment.

Hunter claims that,

"Arsenal want Sanchez & at the moment, that’s the most likely destination. But If Negredo leaves, I wouldn't rule out City."

Arsène’s antidote

The World Cup has all but confirmed how world class Alexis Sanchez is, leaving Arsène Wenger with no choice but to put everything into a deal that could change the sides fortunes for the coming years.

With a striker a priority this summer, a large proportion of the transfer budget must be spent correctly, Sanchez being the correct antidote to a team that needs an encouraging boost to build on their FA Cup triumph in May.
