World Cup quarter-finalist Mathieu Debuchy is set to complete his move to Arsenal next week, after confirming to French press that he has chosen to leave Newcastle United for North London.
Picture Perfect
The 28 year-old right back gave a simple answer last night to French television station TF1, revealing that,
“Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season”
Debuchy furthered hysteria last night by posting an Instagram picture, seemingly confirmed his Arsenal move following his sides exit at the hands of Germany and future teammate Mesut Özil.
L’Bargain
The news will come as a great relief for Arsène Wenger, who is set to complete his first signing this summer with a ready made replacement for former full-back and Manchester City’s new recruit Bacary Sagna.
With French newspaper L’Equipe reporting that Newcastle and Arsenal have agreed a fee of €10 million, it is expected that Debuchy will complete his medical in the coming days.
It is also thought that the official unveiling of the Frenchman will coincide with the official kit launch for Arsenal’s new Puma range, which commences on 10th July.
Keep the cash flowing
At just under £8 million and with Premier League experience, the addition of a full international will encourage Arsenal fans over the clubs short-term plans for an improved squad for next season.
However, this must be used as a basis to add more world-class players, especially as there is a reported £90 million more in the club’s ‘transfer war chest’ for the summer.
