Arsenal have been put on alert after the talented French midfielder Antoine Griezmann turned down a new contract at current club Real Sociedad.

The 23-year-old is contemplating his future with the La Liga club according to AS, the Daily Star report, and the news of his contract snub will alert Arsene Wenger and several other Premier League managers.

Griezmann’s contract runs until 2016 but Sociedad may not be temped to cash in on the playmaker after his decision to not renew his current deal.

Ready to cash in on playmaker?

The youngster has a buy-out clause of £23.9 million and Wenger may be ready to match that price especially after the excellent season the Frenchman enjoyed.

His impressive performances with Sociedad earned him a spot in the French World Cup squad and he could potentially join another member of that squad at the Emirates – with Mathieu Debuchy set to be confirmed as a Gunners player shortly.

However, the Daily Mirror go down a different route and suggest that while Griezmann is likely to spark a scramble for his signature, Arsenal won’t be among the teams.

Liverpool and PSG in race

They believe the Gunners have had Griezmann watched but are thought to be no longer interested and instead Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain remain the big favourites to sign him.

Despite Wenger bringing Sanchez to the club, you would still expect him to be interested in adding Griezmann especially with rumours rife that Santi Cazorla is unsettled at the Emirates.

If the France attacker is available, you would expect Arsenal to be among those involved. Could they pull off another major transfer coup this summer?
