Arsenal officially confirmed the signing of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez yesterday to signal a second huge transfer in as many summer transfer windows.

Sanchez who graced the World Cup with his excellent performances was one of the star men for Chile who were rather unfortunate to leave the competition so early.

After years of Arsenal missing out on the best players the £35 million signing of Sanchez added to the acquisition of Mesut Ozil last year signals the club is moving in the right direction.

Rather unsurprisingly there has been a very positive outlook to Arsenal completing their first signing of the summer transfer window.

World class player

Santi Cazorla has spoken of his excitement of having Alexis Sanchez join the club at the launch of Arsenal’s new kit.

“He’s a world-class player... Having him at Arsenal might make a big difference just because of the player his is.”

“Having another fast player in the squad like Alexis will also give us extra opportunities going forward next year.”

When asked if Arsenal could end their long wait for a league title, Cazorla’s response was very positive:

“Absolutely. Absolutely. If we have an even better squad than last year then why can’t we be champions this year?”

The right club

Arsenal fans may have former captain Cesc Fabregas to thank in part for the completion of the signing, after the Sanchez’s former Barcelona team mate convinced the Chilean forward that Arsenal was the right place for him.

Gunners record signing Mesut Ozil also weighed in on the news, as he welcomed Sanchez to the club before proclaiming that the forward had definitely ‘chosen the right club’ on his official twitter account.

A signing of this calibre can only help boost the clubs and players further and should help the club push on from their FA Cup triumph last season.

With just a couple more signings Arsenal could be serious title contenders once more, though none will probably have the same effect as our new Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
