QPR striker Loic Remy is ready to risk tarnishing a big money move to Arsenal, after informing the club that he is unwilling to take a pay cut to join the Gunners.
Playing Hardball
Remy, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle, is reported to have requested £80,000 a week as a basis for negotiations in order to move to North London.
The Mirror reports that whilst Arsène Wenger is willing to spend £10 million on a steep transfer fee for the out of favour striker, his wage requests have been balked at by the clubs hierarchy.
Pressing Priorities
Despite the completion of £30 million forward Alexis Sanchez on Thursday, the French manager is keen to add another striker to give Arsenal the best chance of competing for the league next season.
However, with the impending transfers of David Ospina and Mathieu Debuchy, it is thought the club will prioritise another defensive signing if Remy refuses to negotiate sensibly in the coming weeks.
Surplus to requirements
Remy has found himself short of suitors, after loan club Newcastle decided to pursue Monaco winger Emmanuel Riviere, as well as parent club QPR deeming him surplus to requirements.
After scoring 14 league goals in 26 appearances, there is no doubt that Remy meets the criteria for Arsenal of a Premier League experienced, prolific forward.
What remains to be seen is whether or not Wenger rates him ahead of the range of options already available at his disposal.
Arsène Knows
£10 million is a bargain for a full international and despite Arsenal having many options in the attacking third, the club should make sure that they cover all grounds in case of injuries and bad form next campaign.
The manager has enough prestige to demand a player to become a squad player and help the side win the league in a grand master plan. Fans will be hoping Remy can provide that top class depth to compete in 2014/2015.
