French right-back Mathieu Debuchy will be announced as an Arsenal player within the next 48 hours, after Newcastle agreed terms with Dutch replacement Daryl Janmaat.

He’s Gunner Sign

Debuchy, as revealed by Arsenal Latest last week, has signed on the dotted line for the Gunners and is waiting for the all clear by the Magpies in order to announce his big money move to the Gunners.

With around £10 million the touted transfer fee, the Frenchman will replace his compatriot Bacary Sagna, who departed the club for rivals Manchester City in May.

Mulling Magpies

It is thought the delay in the transfer deal has been down to Newcastle trying to negotiate a deal with Arsenal World Cup star Joel Campbell, who will come back this pre-season to fight his place in Arsène Wenger’s squad.

With the Gunners only willing to negotiate with a large loan fee, it is thought that Newcastle will drop their interest and focus on rubber-stamping their full back business this week.

Broken Dreams

Although Debuchy comes in to find a ready to compete Carl Jenkinson, The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are making enquiries on the availability of Southampton’s Calum Chambers.

Wenger is ready to spend big money in order to make sure he has quality competition for places this season and may decide that Jenkinson’s dream move to the Gunners has been nothing more than a stopgap for his career.

One Mathieu, Two Mathieu’s

Debuchy’s signing is an exciting development in a transfer window that is promising to be the most prolific in the clubs history.

Good value, experience on the world stage and now seen as more valuable than Bacary Sagna, the club can only be satisfied with the shrewd piece of business that they have completed in the signing.
