The transfer of Sami Khedira to Arsenal appeared to be moving swimmingly until it was revealed that the German was making big wage demands, however positive news continues to leak surrounding the deal.

Yesterday Arsenal Latest reported that the Real Madrid midfielder wanted to become the highest paid player at the club and the Gunners reluctance to meet those demands meant Chelsea were set to come in.

Next round of talks

Today the next round of talks with the German will resume and Arsenal appear confident they can come to an agreement with the midfielder.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT Spanish football expert Paul Breen-Turner has insisted that Khedira would like a move to the Emirates over Chelsea.

Arsenal fans get excited!

He told talkSPORT that a fee has been agreed as well, Breen-Turner said: “Marca claim a deal is more or less done for Sami Khedira to join Arsenal.

“Personal terms have not been agreed, but the newspaper claims the two clubs are in agreement over a €25m transfer fee.

“He’s not been brilliant and has suffered with injuries in Spain. Khedira has not shone brightly and has not always fitted into the Real Madrid shape but he had a decent World Cup and was unlucky, through injury, to miss the final.

“There are a lot of things for Arsenal fans to be excited about. The only stumbling block is his wage demands, which Arsenal wouldn’t be happy about.

“Chelsea, who have also been linked with him, couldn’t care less. They have added though that the bad relationship between Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid, means it’s more likely that he’ll end up at the Emirates than Stamford Bridge.”

Marca reported that Real Madrid and Arsenal have agreed a fee for Khedira, they state it is £19.8 million – which is approximately €25 million.

Khedira prefers Arsenal to Chelsea

Metro believe that Khedira has emerged as the Gunners number one target and they have prioritised his signature over anyone else.

Khedira and Arsenal are both confident of coming to an agreement over personal terms and Metro state that the player would prefer a move to north London over Chelsea.

With a big money signing already announced, it seems this is the summer where Arsenal really go big and finally give the fans what they have been craving for the last half a dozen years.

If Khedira comes then talk of the title will build and the years of patience placed in Arsene Wenger may prove to be correct.
