Arsenal’s attempts to sign World Cup winner Sami Khedira have been put in jeopardy, after Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho made a personal plea for his former player to join the Blues this summer.
Hello, this is Jose speaking
In today’s breaking exclusive by Spanish website ABS.es, there have been claims that Mourinho personally phone called Khedira, telling him that he would be better off under his guidance than Arsène Wenger’s for the long-term future.
After falling out of favour at Real Madrid, Khedira wants a move that will guarantee him first team football and a high wage packet, both of which Chelsea can offer the German.
Mind Games
As reported earlier by Arsenal Latest, discussions are still ongoing between the midfielder and Arsenal representatives. However, Chelsea’s mind games have been the key factor in delaying the clubs immediate plans for the transfer window.
Highly renowned Spanish publication Marca revealed today that they believe an agreement for the player has been struck, but will only be rubber-stamped once Toni Kroos arrives at the Bernabeu.
The Daily Star reveal that Khedira shirts are no longer being sold in the club shop, all but confirming the ex Stuttgart players four year stint at Madrid.
Slow and steady will lose the race
The longer negotiations go on, the higher chance of another bidder getting into pole position for the midfielder.
Arsenal need to make sure they finish the deal quickly, as they don’t want to regret two midfielders making the trip to their London neighbours this summer.
What remains to be seen is whether or not Khedira fancies himself playing in blue or red for the upcoming campaign.
