A week after he was expected to be announced as an Arsenal player, the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy is set to be confirmed today.
The Newcastle full-back has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past few weeks and even suggested during the World Cup that he would be joining the Gunners.
The club announced the signing of Alexis Sanchez last week and it was predicted that Debuchy’s announcement would be before or at the same time as the Chileans.
Debuchy announcement imminent
The hold up was Debuchy’s current club Newcastle, though not for long, waiting to finalise a deal with Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat.
That has now been confirmed and ITV believe Arsenal will soon be welcoming another Frenchman to the Emirates in a deal worth £10 million.
Debuchy will replace previous first choice right-back Bacary Sagna, after the fellow Frenchman moved to Manchester City at the start of the summer.
And once Debuchy is confirmed Arsene Wenger will look to complete several other deals.
Other transfer targets set
One high-profile potential transfer is Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira moving to the Emirates but talks are still ongoing regarding the German internationals wages.
If that deal was to fail then Wenger could always go back in for Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender, a player who has long been admired by those at the Emirates.
Arsenal have been linked with Bender during the past few transfer windows and they could go in for the German again.
Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina and Egyptian Ahmed Fathi have also been linked with moves while young Spanish right-back Javi Manquillo is expected to join the club shortly.
Arsenal’s plans for the new season are shaping up nicely and Aaron Ramsey has been talking about how pleased he is with his progression.
Ramsey looking to progress
The Welsh midfielder was instrumental in the clubs success last year and won the Gunners player of the season award.
Evening Standard quoted Ramsey after he spoke to Arsenal.com, he said: "I am just happy (with my progress) and I want to keep on working on my game.
“Hopefully I can keep improving and get better and better. That's my target now - just to improve on my game and keep on building every season.
"I have been through a lot in my short career so far. I've had a bit of everything so it was nice to have a good season, score the number of goals that I did and be recognised a lot more.
"I've always believed in myself and what I can do, and I think a lot of people realised that last year and that's what I'm more happy about."
Arsenal fans will now be hoping that Ramsey enjoys another superb season and can thrive even more alongside the likes of Sanchez, Debuchy and maybe even Khedira.
