Morgan Schneiderlin has re-emerged as a top transfer priority for Arsenal, as moves for Sami Khedira and William Carvalho have increased in uncertainty.

Preliminary Negotiations

The Southampton midfielder would be a viable option for the Gunners, who according to The Metro have opened preliminary negotiations with their Premier League counterparts.

Whilst the £18 million touted by his club may be seen as excessive, Southampton are keen to keep hold of one of their last remaining key stars, after seeing a mass exodus during this summer’s transfer window.

Delighted to sign

It is thought that the player himself would be delighted to sign for the club, as the opportunity to work with Arsène Wenger would be too difficult to turn down.

Goal.com report that in an interview last month that he admitted,

"I've been there for a long time now. We'll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.”

"Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions."

Southampton’s Shining Star

Schneiderlin’s performances last season have gained great plaudits around the world and Southampton made sure that they tied down their star to a contract that runs until 2017.

Voted Fans Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year, supporters and the club’s hierarchy will do all he can to restrain him from leaving Southampton.

However, if Arsenal are adamant in signing him, it looks as though they will push the deal through with ease.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Many players have been linked with Arsenal, especially midfielders, but Schneiderlin would provide Premier League and international experience, something that ticks all the boxes for a new signing.

Khedira or Carvalho may be more luxury options, but with the new season fast approaching, it looks as though the North London club may have to make a quick and bold decision on their next target sooner rather than later.
