Following Arsenal’s first pre-season game of the season, it is looking as though Arsenal are set to make their third signing of the summer, Nice goalkeeper David Ospina.

The Colombian international played all of his country’s games during this summer’s World Cup, keeping two clean sheets on the side’s road to the quarter-finals.

Nice Signing, Arsène

French website NiceMatin.com believe that the announcement of Ospina’s arrival will be imminent, the clubs agreeing a fee of approximately €4 million, due to his contract expiration next year.

Although The Metro believed that Valencia were set to make an 11th hour bid for the goalkeeper, Dick Law and the transfer team have managed to thrash out a deal for one of their top targets.

The 25-year-old has been trying to push through a transfer to the Gunners and it looks as though he has got his wish to move to the Emirates Stadium for the 2014/2015 campaign.

Ospina has been brought in to replace former number two Lukasz Fabianski, while he is expected to challenge Wojciech Szczesny for the number one shirt pending bad form or unlucky injuries.

Shaky Spaniard Linked Again

Arsenal have also been heavily linked in recent weeks with Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who is looking to force a move out of Real Madrid.

The Mirror claim that he has asked Madrid to terminate his contract. The move comes following poor form, which has resulted in losing his club place to Diego Lopez, as well as tarnishing his once untouchable international reputation.

Goalposts Gazumping

A new goalkeeper will be announced shortly and it will be encouraging to have a world-class player in the ranks for domestic competitions.

However, with Wojciech Szczesny improving so greatly in recent years, it is unlikely that any incoming player will be set to gazump him from the goalposts anytime soon.
