It is understood that both Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla are on Atletico Madrid’s summer shopping list. Atletico who won La Liga last year have got cash to burn with the sales of Diego Costa and Luis Filipe to Chelsea.
Monreal is understood to be concerned that he may start the season as Kieran Gibbs understudy which therefore, means a move to Atletico would appeal to him especially with them now needing a left back.
Arsenal may also be willing to accept an offer for Cazorla especially if the offer is attractive. The main reason for this being is Cazorla turns 30 in December however; he has just recently signed a new deal. Cazorla again may not be a guaranteed starter after the signing of Alexis Sanchez.
If I was Arsene Wenger I would try to keep both of the Spaniards.
Monreal is a quality backup who has shown class in the past although he didn’t have the best of times last season.
Cazorla is still a brilliant player in my opinion and a player we should hold on to. He offer versatility and can be rotated with Ӧzil especially with the number of options Wenger has at his disposal. This would mean he could play in his favoured position.
If these two deals went through it would make no sense. Wenger is finally building a squad which has two very good players in every position which Arsenal have needed for years therefore I cannot see these deals happening.
