Spirits are high in the Arsenal camp, after four major signings have been completed with the season still two weeks away from lift-off.

Among these arrivals was Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez, who joined the club on a deal worth £35 million to enhance the Gunners attacking force for an assault on the league title next campaign.

Sanchez on the metro

As The Metro report today, Sanchez has been training at Arsenal’s London Colney facilities ahead of the Emirates Cup this weekend, in a bid to get fit after a successful World Cup campaign with Chile.

Injured English winger Theo Walcott is also accelerating his rehabilitation at the club’s training base and tweeted a picture today of his bonding session with the new signing.

What a player

Walcott told Arsenal Player of his delight at the new signing and that he is chomping at the bit to play alongside him in the very foreseeable future.

“Sanchez is a world-class player and I enjoyed watching him play for Barcelona and for Chile at the World Cup.

He’s still very young as well and he is going to show so much pace and power, which we lacked a bit last year.

With me and him on the flanks, a lot of teams won’t be looking forward to playing Arsenal this year!”

Capitalising Gunners

Sanchez’ arrival follows the clubs transfer activity of last summer, when they splashed out £42.5 million on Real Madrid’s Mesut Özil.

After being forced out of Barcelona because of Luis Suarez’ arrival, despite 39 goals in 88 appearances, it is the Catalan sides loss and Gunners win as he prepares to help Arsenal capitalise on last season’s FA Cup success.

He will be delighted to know that he will soon be joined with the returning Theo Walcott, whose ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in January cut his season and World Cup campaign short.

Regardless, with the players 45 goal return at the club and his lightening speed, it is hoped that he will come back to his best to fire the Gunners to glory.

Theo’s back

Theo Walcott’s return is a huge boost to the club, who hope he can finally have an injury free season that will result in him cementing a position in the first-team for good.

However, he will have big competition to play up front, unless Wenger decides to play two players in the middle next season to provide an increased attacking threat.
