Arsene Wenger’s men missed out on the opportunity to win their first Emirates Cup tournament for 4 years today as moneybags French side AS Monaco held out for a narrow victory.

Radamel Falcao’s free header was enough to separate the sides as the Gunners fielded 3 new faces in Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez.

It was suggested that the XI that began the game at in London might be the one to face Crystal Palace in two weeks’ time, but the reaction of the Gunners support on Twitter was quick to extinguish any lack of confidence in the first team.

Looking at the social media timeline, the red support seems as confident as ever that today’s result will have no effect on the Premier League season…

@AAkeokeo “We didn't win the #EmiratesCup last year and look what happened so don't worry gooners #COYG #Arsenal”

@mueezy13 “Arsenal Fans shouldn't worry about this match as Emirates Cup is nothing but  friendly Cup. We should Focus on FA Community shield”

@emf4life “Oh well Arsenal, but don't worry.  The real 1st trophy is the community shield vs Man City next weekend.”

@jamingupta “Arsenal don't need to worry too much though. Wenger has got the players he needed. Look set for a top 2 or maybe a top 3 finish this season.”

@MrSaglam61 “Emirates Cup is only a friendly trophy who cares about it. Arsenal hardly win it anyway.”

@Cameron_AFC “Only Arsenal fans could boo their team after a friendly. One day they are gonna win the league and the next it's Wenger Out”

@DoSinclair “Despite not being a hugely competitive exchange today, @arsenal's surging, electric pace stood out, particularly in contrast to last season.”

@Geneva_Gooner “Decent test for Arsenal. The game was competitive and that's what you want in pre-season, win or lose. #AFCvMON”

@kduffin85 “Arsenal last nite.....were gona win the league.... Arsenal 2day.....it's only pre-season .....knobs.”

@EveretteAmore “Hating on players is not the way. This Arsenal  team will win the league.  Let's get behind our team and stop.being fickle”
