Arsenal seem to be leading the race for Sporting Lisbon’s defensive midfielder William Carvalho.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jodo Arsenal are willing to pay 30 million euros to secure the services of Carvalho. This was the leading headline in today’s paper however; details are minimal because they do not publish on their site.
It is believed that Carvalho only earns £8000 per week which maybe crucial if Arsenal get the chance to offer Carvalho a contract.
However, any deal will be complicated because investment bank BES in Portugal own 40% of the player.
A defensive midfielder is definitely needed and this was shown over the weekend in the Emirates Cup. Arteta has got a lot of stick over social media but we have been aware all summer that we need an upgrade.
This deal could go all the way this summer but hopefully Arsenal can find a quick solution which suits all parties.
