It is being reported that Arsenal are going to abandon the pursuit of a defensive midfielder and play Chambers there instead.

This is after being linked with potential signing such as William Carvalho and Sami Khedira.

Wenger was impressed by Chambers performance in the Emirates cup and had the following to say on him;

"He can play central midfield as well as he has good technique, great mobility and is a good, good distance runner," Wenger said

"He was educated as a central midfielder and then played with England under-19 at centre-back and right-back for Southampton and that is where I saw him the first time against us and I liked him."

Although, I believe Chambers would be very useful in central midfielder it would then mean we need another central defender.

I also believe we need an established defensive midfielder which has all the attributes now such as leadership.

It is believed Chambers may play central midfield against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
