This afternoon BBC Sport reporter Ben Smith tweeted that Liverpool have enquired about the services of three high profile forwards but were told they have “no chance” of signing them.
The three forwards mentioned were Monaco’s Radamel Falcao, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani.
No Cavani move then?
Arsenal have been heavily linked with the latter over the past few days with speculation building that they have bid £51 million for the Uruguayan striker.
The move for Cavani did seem strange, considering the defensive problems at the club, but if a world class player becomes available, regardless of his position, it is often a good idea to snap them up.
False information…
With this news, though, it appears the PSG ace isn’t up for sale and information regarding Arsenal’s big money move is surely false.
It could be possible that the Gunners have yet to hear from the French club that Cavani isn’t available for a transfer but either way there is mixed news regarding his future.
Sit tight and wait and see
Whether or not he could be the man to fire Arsenal to Premier League glory remains to be seen but he would certainly add a huge amount to an already excellent squad.
With a few weeks remaining it seems this potential transfer will be another where we have to wait patiently to see if the rumours were pure rubbish or if they were based on the facts – hopefully they are the latter.
