If Arsenal are still pursuing Marco Reus, then they will welcome Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke's comments about the Dortmund man's future.

He is quoted as saying:

We'll have to wait. I know Marco, I think quite well and I can say that things with him are not primarily about money”.

While this does not say that the player is officially staying or parting ways with Dortmund, it does indicate that he is not influenced by money, only by the right move.

This could be crucial to Arsenal as there is no way that we could meet the wage demands of Manchester United or Bayern Munich.

The German's been linked with a move from Dortmund for a while now, but this summer the interest has hotted up, and Dortmund may want to sell the player this summer to cash in rather than only receive £19.8m when his release clause kicks in next summer.

Carvalho bid

Goal are reporting that Arsenal have had a £20m bid rejected for Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho.

Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer and Sporting are ready to cash in although the complex nature of the negotiations mean they are likely to go down to the wire as according to reports in Portugal, 40% of his rights are owned by investment firm Banco Espirito Santo.
