Arsenal are to tempt Borussia Dortmund into the big-money sale of Germany international Marco Reus by tabling a £40million offer, according to Express.
Numerous clubs have had their eye on Reus this summer, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona, after the attacker failed to put pen to paper on a new deal to keep him at the Signal Iduna.
Dortmund’s stance has been that Reus will not leave for any price, despite his current contract having a release clause of around £30million. Dortmund have already proven to be a selling club after they allowed Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze to join Bayern in the last two windows.
Stocked
And with Dortmund announcing the re-signing of attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa from Manchester United, there may be a space freed up for Reus to complete a move away from the Bundesliga.
Having also brought in Circo Immobile and Nuri Sahin, Dortmund are well stocked in the attacking area – so a £40MILLION offer for the 25-year-old could prove to be irresistible.
Reus finished last season’s Bundesliga with 16 goals to his name and 23 in all competitions, with only an unfortunate injury seeing him miss his country’s World Cup victory.
With 7 in 21 on the international stage, too, Reus is clearly a player for the big games. However having brought in Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in big-money deals in recent times, it remains unclear whether Arsenal would be willing to pay that kind of money again.
