The annoyance of being an Arsenal fan is huge because a variety of factors. In the Arsenal fan camp on twitter, reading all the messages sent out, Arsenal fans are split on the signing of Danny Welbeck with the majority quite underwhelmed with him supposedly joining the Emirates.
4th place finish all over again?
Signings don’t happen in a day. There is a lot of planning that goes into a particular signing. For the money that Arsenal fans pump into the club, the signing of Danny Welbeck is not what Gooners deserve.
And when stated before that transfers don’t happen in one day, Danny Welbeck, most likely, has been on the Arsenal radar for a week at least if not more. This is what the Arsenal board have become content with.
Realistically, settling for 4th is the aim according to them. If it were any different, Arsenal would have built on the amazing signings we made previously with Ozil, Alexis and the rest.
Welbeck the match winner?
The simple fact of football, goals win you games. It’s as simple as that. On paper, it doesn’t seem like Welbeck is a striker that invokes fear into the hearts of oppositions. A lot of sarcastic comments have been thrown around about Welbeck
@LeGrove
‘You smell that?
It's fear.
Europe's elite just heard Arsenal are taking Welbeck on loan for the season.’
Positives
Most of the Arsenal fans are very quick to judgement and they have a right to be frustrated. It is an underwhelming signing when you see that we were linked to the likes of Cavani and Falcao just a few days ago. But we should always keep in mind the positives that Welbeck brings to our group.
Being only 23 years of age, he still has a while to reach his peak and with Arsene to help him grow, he could turn into a good player. He would add to the growing British core at Arsenal and being a home-grown player always helps.
Also do keep in mind that at Manchester United, He had the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie to compete with. Breaking into that team is near impossible for a young striker and sometimes a move is just what a player needs.
An example of how a move have helped players, we can look to Daniel Sturridge. At Chelsea, he was stuck behind the pecking order of Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres but then he came into his own at Liverpool.
Waiting game
Arsenal fans are quick to judge and rightly so. Waiting 10+ years for the next premier league title has taken a toll on all Gooners.
There is a lot of frustration and anger around the Arsenal fan base but we just have to take it as it comes and hope for the best.
Let’s hope that Welbeck isn’t the only player coming in the door for Arsenal.
