After a super weekend, walking away with all 3 points from Villa Park in emphatic style to say the least and ALL our rivals (Chelsea, City, Liverpool & Everton) dropping points makes for an awesome week ahead.
Some may ask “what about Spurs and United”, I say “yeah what about them”. This was definitely the confidence booster our boys needed after City and Dortmund. It can get better, 3 straight home fixtures, WIN ALL and the boys will be up for Chelsea away with Walcott back in the mix.
The Villa match, apart from the 1st 25 minutes was sensational. 5 minutes of pure flowing, attractive and breathe taking football KILLED it. Ozil was at the helm, sensational at 10, and by miles ahead of the rest. If this performance does not appeal to Wenger then I will question his intentions with Ozil.
He is undoubtedly the best 10 in the world, let alone the premier league. Give him the space and he will dictate the pace of the game, not many can do that. Zidane controlled how fast the game goes, Ozil has that very same ability.
Even with a lacklustre 2nd half, we never looked in any danger, Villa made it easy but we have to commend Wenger. Not often do you see Arsenal going 2 or 3 NIL up and slow the game. We always wanted more, and that led to disaster. 4 – 0 up at Newcastle, apart from the Diaby sending off, we should have closed off the match, by slowing it down. That’s exactly what we did against Villa, and it was SENSATIONAL.
Against Leicester and City we should have adopted the same game plan after going ahead, but as long as we learn from our mistakes, I couldn’t care less about the past. A match we needed to win and one we did. The Welbeck and Ozil combination could be fruitful; not the Henry Bergkamp combination but it shows signs of AWESOMENESS. Many Arsenal supporters on social media are of the same opinion as I am, Ozil at 10, will make Welbeck resemble Cavani. I am pretty damn sure of that.
Next up we have Southampton, once again, they have surprised many like Villa did, and that with them shipping out all of their stars of last season. Well done to them, and Ronald, but I am not here to talk about them, I am here to take about my beloved ARSENAL and what we need to do, to have an effective performance and prepare for Spurs. My starting 11 against Southampton on Tuesday.
Let’s see what Ospina brings to the party and give a deserved rest to Schesnzy. With a thin defence, it’s obvious we can’t rest all but rest to Koscielny and Gibbs will do, provided Monreal is good to play.
Give Bellerin another run, but have Oxlade cover him.
Give Flamini, Cambell, Rosicky & Podolski some game time, and with keeping Wilshere fit for the weekend, give Ramsey a run out, just to manage the expectations of the elite 1st team players.
This team should take us through to the next round, and if they can’t then we have serious problems.
Our depth will come into question like Uniteds did when they were thumped by our Benik Afobes MK Dons. This kid will become a star, power, skillful and he can finish. Already raking up 5 goals in 8 appearances, we should keep this one, he can be anything at this young tender age of 21. This depth that we turn to when things go pear shaped in a match, and they should have it in them to finish a Southampton team all on their own. As cover keep Sanchez, Carzola, Wilshere, Welbeck, Koscielny and Gibbs on the bench in case they are needed. This should extend our winning streak to 2 matches before we take on the might of our neighbours.
Spurs at home should be interesting; our elite 11 should be fresh apart from Mertesacker, Chambers and probably Ramsey. They will be coming onto us and Wenger should derive a game plan that adapts to the pace of the match, and unfortunately Arteta will have to start, but he needs to pick up his game drastically to marshal Lamela and Erikson.
However, 3 points is a must and once again a draw will be all but a failure.
Then we host Galatasaray and need to WIN convincingly to recover from our Dortmund thumping, this will set rejuvenate our champions league campaign and with 4 WINS on the trot the self believe and confidence level of our boys will be so high when we travel to Stamford Bridge, we could be a new look outfit by then, and during the next 14 days a certain Theo Walcott will be back in the mix and our team selection will go out the window.
This is exactly what I am hoping for, because WENGER needs to start earning his salary and not expect it to be given to him on a silver plate. The competition between the players will be awesome as everyone in every single match will want to perform and not be found wanting, as that could mean 2 or 3 games on the bench. The times are looking UP and we need to get behind our boys and show them that every single dropped point is accountable.
