Arsenal won Galatasaray at Turk Telekom Arena thanks to braces from Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal qualified for the knock out stages of UEFA Champions League for the fifteenth season in a row, but such remarkable achievement doesn’t seem to entertain Arsene Wenger much.

Arsenal gave away a three-goal-lead against Anderlecht and succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Signal Iduna Park earlier in the tournament. Such miserable results have made Arsenal finish second for the fifth time in six attempts.

When Arsene Wenger was asked about his chances at the top of the table, he told Sky Sports that he had regrets over their result against Borussia Dortmund and Anderlecht.

“We had two favourites who responded to being favourites. We have regrets about our game in Dortmund. At home, we did the job well.

Overall, we won four games and had one draw but that point against Anderlecht at home we can regret.”

Arsenal were on surreal spirits prior to the substitution of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini and the French manager stated that the score-line would have been even more incredible, had he not taken them off.

“I think the fact we had to take Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey off took away a bit of our power going forward. In the second half we had more problems dictating the game.”

Arsene Wenger admitted that he was initially cynical about Aaron Ramsey’s ambitious effort at the goal from the outside of the box. He also heaped praise on the Welshman for his notable confidence.

“When Aaron Ramsey took the shot, I thought that is maybe not the best of ideas but the way it went in was absolutely unbelievable. His confidence is linked with results and goals scored and that helps.”

Arsenal will now have to battle with one of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, FC Porto, Monaco or PSG/Barcelonain the knockout stages of UEFA Champions League. The Gunners have maintained poor record against the aforementioned teams in the competition and Arsene Wenger will hope to change the tides this term.
