Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is interested clubs in various countries and Arsenal are believed to be among the front runners for the 23-year-old.
Daily Star quoted Juan De Dios Carrasco, Montoya’s agent, recently and he revealed his client is attracting suitors from across the globe.
The Spaniard’s future has been a hot topic of debate after it was suggested that Barca boss Luis Enrique was willing to let the right-back leave as he didn’t figure in his first-team plans.
“Tomorrow there will be a meeting with Barcelona to communicate a decision we have already taken,” said Carrasco.
“There are clubs interested in the player in England, in Italy and in Germany.”
Premier League rivals
Arsenal aren’t the only English club interested in the Catalan defender, as Manchester United and Liverpool have also registered an interest.
Serie A giants Juventus have also kept an eye on Montoya so the Gunners may face some rivalry for his signature.
Someone that Arsenal won’t get much joy with in January is Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman confirmed today that the French international would not be departing St Mary’s in the upcoming transfer window.
The 25-year-old attracted interest from Arsene Wenger and north London rivals Tottenham Horspur in the summer, but ended up staying on the south coast.
Frenchmen not moving
And it seems he will remain at Southampton until at least the end of the season after Metro quoted Koeman today.
“We will sell nobody in January,” he said at his press conference earlier today.
“Morgan’s attitude is fantastic – everybody knows that he had a difficult time in the summer, but finally he accepted his situation and he’s doing his best and looking forward to returning to playing [from injury].”
Although Schneiderlin won’t move to the Emirates, Roma forward Mattia Destro could potentially sign for the Gunners next month.
Italian on his way?
The Italy international is being offered to clubs, according to the Evening Standard, for around £15 million.
The 23-year-old is deemed surplus at Rome, despite scoring four times this season in 13 appearances.
However, whether Wenger will push to sign the forward remains to be seen with various attacking options available already to the Gunners boss.
