According to AS journalist Manuel Esteban, Arsene Wenger has already made contact with Rene Ramos, the agent of Sergio Ramos to enquire about the availability of the Real Madrid defender.
“Wenger has called René Ramos, the agent and brother of Sergio Ramos.”
Such claim comes at the back of his interview last Monday, when he insisted that he was in no rush to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu.
He is tied to the Champions League winners till the end of 2016/17 season and there seems to be no improvement in the contract extension talks.
Arsenal desperately need a centreback to make up for Laurent Koscielny’s injury and Per Mertesacker’s dip and Sergio Ramos is someone, who could fix the defensive woes. The Spaniard will certainly cost a minimum of £35 million but can be the catalyst in the Gunners’ bid to titles in the seasons to come.
Arsene Wenger is no stranger to signing big names having signed Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the recent past and we’ll have to wait till January to see, if this transfer pulls through.
