Speculation has increased about the potential signing of Edison Cavani after he was left out of the PSG squad. PSG are heading abroad to do some warm weather training in their winter break but when looking at the squad it was seen that Cavani was omitted.

It has become clear to the PSG manager that Cavani is unhappy and would like a move to the premier league, however, Arsenal would have to break their transfer record again as the figure being quoted is £50 million.

Although this may be considered a coup for the club it will show Arsenal means business.

Cavani is a world class striker who is deadly in front of goal which would be an upgrade on the centre forwards at Arsenal however; I personally am sceptical about this deal happening in January mainly because the of the fee but secondly Wenger has options upfront at the moment and needs to focus on a defensive midfielder and centre back.

However, if Podolski is on his way out of the club then Wenger maybe freeing up the wage budget for a player of Cavani’s stature.

Overall, the deal may have to wait until the summer where we will have more money around unlike the £20 million we reportedly have for January.
