Lukas Podolski stormed out of training on New Year’s Eve after become increasingly unhappy at the first team football he is receiving. It is understood that he pulled out of training due to a groin injury but it is believed it is due to the lack of first team football.

Further to this, Podolski is also unhappy that he may not get a move away this January. Podolski himself feels Arsenal are trying to block any possible loan deal to Inter Milan. This comes after Wenger brandished their interest as a “Joke”.

According to the Mirror, the fallout escalated quickly and this is down to the fact the German is a World Cup winner and believes he should be given a chance.

My own personal opinion on this is that Podolski does deserve a chance and has shown when played this year that he can score goals. However, the main argument against Podolski is that he doesn’t always offer a lot unlike current wingers Sanchez and Chamberlain. Although Podolski can score goals and deliver a decent cross, he does not like the other side of the game.

Having said all that I would be sad to see Podolski leave as he is one of my favourites like many other fans and it is clear that he has a love for the club however, he cannot kick off and storm out of training as that is not professional.

Podolski should just keep his head down and wait for a chance like Joel Campbell but I do understand his desire to play football as football is a short career and he is getting to an age where you need to be playing regularly.
