21-year old Paulo Dybala is the latest striker to be linked to the Gunners. Stories are circulating in Italy that Wenger may be interested in the young Palermo forward to help his current striker crisis.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has outlined Arsenal and Manchester City to be front-runners in the pursuit of the Argentine. It seems as though this interest is only inspiring the Palermo striker to play to an even higher level who has already scored 7 goals in 15 appearances for Palermo this season.

"Whenever people speak well of me, I'm filled with pride. I will not deny that going to Arsenal and playing in the Premier League would be amazing. However, I am aware that my reality right now is Palermo."

This comes after reports last December from The Metro linking Dybala to Arsenal with news of a €40 million bid from the North London club. When being asked about the supposed interest back in December, Dybala replied:

I'm calm. For now the news is just coming out in the media, there is nothing concrete. My head is on the clash next weekend against Torino, which is very important to us.”

Although this did not come to fruition, it seems as though the interest in the striker has increased once again coming into this January transfer window with this striker even being tipped for success by former Eveton Ace Phil Neville:

“There’s a player at Palermo who is going to be a superstar, by the way. Paulo Dybala. Remember that name.”

News of a potential striker moving to Arsenal may be good and bad news for Gooners out there. Strengthening the forward line for Arsenal is a must this window. Following Olivier Giroud’s straight red-card at QPR and Danny Welbeck’s recent injury, reserves up front are running dry. This news may also bring some joy to Arsenal fans after the recent goodbye of Podolski to Inter Milan. With a probable loan departure of Yaya Sanogo on the cards, perhaps snapping up Dybala may be just what Wenger needs to breathe new life into the Gunners attack.

However, Arsenal fans may be frustrated at these revelations as it again hurts the chances of the Gunners landing a big January signing such as Edinson Cavani following recent reports from L’Equipe.

This highly sought after striker could well help Arsenal’s claim to the top four this season but there is a high possibility Wenger could wait until the summer to snap up “La Joya” as he is called in Argentina.
