PSG striker Edinson Cavani may be heading out of the exit door in France and saying Hello to Arsene Wenger. Twitter was sparked into life last night after journalist Roberto Bonafont tweeted about a bid.
“Arsenal ofreció €64M por el delantero del Paris Saint Germain: Edinson Cavani.” This translates to Arsenal offered € 64M for Paris Saint Germain striker : Edinson Cavani.
Although, this seems absurd, respected journalists keep reporting the story which shows Arsenal have an interest. Cavani has always been a target of Mr Wenger and speculation mounted that he made a £30 million bid for his services when playing for Napoli.
Further to the interest, Wenger seems to be clearing space with the departure of Podolski who could be potentially followed by Campbell and Sanogo. This could leave Arsenal short in the attacking department, especially up front. This would leave Wenger with two main options of Giroud and Welbeck.
However, it not yet clear if there is any substance to the rumour.
Additionally, Inside Futbol are reporting that Super-Agent Mino Raiola may be brokering a deal.
Raiola who is the agent of Cavani and Balotelli may be involved in a deal including both players.
It is understood the agent is taking Balotelli to PSG resulting in Cavani moving to Arsenal. Raiola is expected to take Balotelli to PSG so that he can rescue his career under Ibrahimovic’s guidance.
At the moment this is mere speculation without a lot of substance however, this could develop.
In my opinion the story has legs and let’s be honest Wenger often ignores a defensive problem for an attacking player. If Cavani becomes available can you really turn it down, lets be honest he is classed as a world class striker who finishes chances.
Cavani would make Arsenal stronger but let’s not get to far ahead until something official breaks.
