Arsenal may be on the verge of bringing St. Etienne captain Loic Perrin to the Emirates.

Following an interview with St Etienne president Bernard Caiazzo, it became clear Arsenal are still to lodge a formal bet for Perrin:

“We have not received any offer,”

Arsenal have been in talks with the French side over a possible transfer and some reports have suggested that Perrin’s agent had travelled to London for talks with the North London side, talks which were said to have been successful.

Perrin’s contract could be the sticking point in any bid from the Gunners as the recently penned a contract extension until 2017, meaning Arsenal may have to spend more than they planned on him. This has led to speculation, believing that Arsenal could be about to pull out of the deal.

Loic Perrin himself has acknowledged the interest from the Gunners however a formal bid is still not in place.

The French side are bracing themselves for a bid believed to be in the region of €8million to €10million in the coming days for the 29 year old defender and are apparently already looking at replacements for Perrin.

According to Le10, Perrin is believed to have been offered a two-year deal at the Emirates after agreeing financials with the club, with an option of a third year on top of that.

So it appears Loic Perrin is on his way to the Emirates according to the latest reports. If the deal goes through, will it be a good signing?

Granted he is the captain of St. Etienne, so he will have leadership skills at the back, but a €10million fee for an uncapped 29-year old French defender seems a little high. It still remains to be seen if the deal goes through but don’t be surprised if it is announced sooner rather than later.
