According to The Metro today, The Gunners are moving closer to the signing of Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic after the agent of the player said he would welcome the move.
As reported yesterday, Arsenal have been interested in the Zagreb midfielder and a bid of £6million bid had been reportedly rejected.
Brozovic’s agent Miroslav Bicanic has confirmed that the player has been in talks with other clubs. He recognised Arsenal but however stated that the clubs are yet to agree a fee for the player before they can move forward in negotiations. He also spoke of the interest Brozovic would have in joining Arsenal:
“We are talking to several clubs, although there is nothing concrete at this moment,’ Bicanic told Goal.”
“We know of Arsenal’s interest, but there is nothing agreed. At this moment Marcelo is with Dinamo and everything depends on Dinamo.”
“They have to agree a price with a club and then we can hold talks.
“Of course Marcelo would be interested in playing in the Premier League with a club such as Arsenal.”
The agent concluded that Brozovic would enjoy a move to England and would relish a chance to prove himself in the Premier League:
“We hope he can change clubs and come to England as it is one of the best leagues in the world, but the decision depends on Dinamo.”
So it seems that this deal has some traction. I was rather surprised at the news of this deal yesterday and didn’t think much of it, however according to the agent of Brozovic, there seems to legitimate interest from Arsenal for the midfielder.
Again, I stress, this is an attacking midfielder and it is presumed that Wenger wishes to convert him to be a defensive midfielder, due to his size and strength. This will be an interesting one to see how it develops.
