Arsenal have lately been unsuccessful in their bids to win against the sides that finish above them in Premier League. They conceded seventeen goals away from home at Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City, but Arsene Wenger is now insistent on changing the history as his side travel to Etihad Stadium.
Speaking to the press, the French manager admitted that his side lacked stability last season even though his side were in a better position last season. However, he claimed that their recent stability will help his side this term.
“We did not perform last year in the top games away from home. I believe now we are much more stable and we can do it.”
Arsenal had maintained a successful away record in the past. He warned the Premier League giants that it would not be long till Arsenal get back to their scoring best in away games. He added that confidence would be their key to success.
"For many years it was our strength but in the last two years, it is true that it has been a weakness. I think we can rectify it. We go into a period now where the confidence is important.”
Results against the top Premier League sides cost their shot at the title in the past few seasons. Arsene Wenger told that their game on Sunday is decisive and added that they have a chance to win as they had defeated such mighty opponents in UEFA Champions League.
"We have big games until the end of the season and this can be a decisive game on that front. We believe we can win these games because we have done so in the Champions League many times."
The Gunners manager denied ruling out his chances of lifting the Premier League trophy stating that a victory against the defending Champions could make them title contenders.
"We want to win to give ourselves a chance, because mathematically we are not in the best position. This is a team that can create chances and our defensive performance will be vital."
He made a powerful statement stating that his side will be looking to change history by defeating Manchester City at their own turf.
"History is history and we are going there on Sunday to change history.”
