According to various reports today, West Ham defender Winston Reid wants a switch to Arsenal this window, if a bid comes in for him that is.

The New Zealand international wants a move away from Upton Park to go further north in London. According to The Mirror, Reid has made his voice known to Allardyce stating he want to join Arsenal if a bid comes in from the Gunners this window.

The Gunners are on the hunt for another centre back this season and Reid has been heavily linked to the club all window. The defender has refused a new contract at West Ham and was dropped for the game against Hull City. Reid is out of contract at the end of the season so it is plausible that big Sam may let him go this window to earn some money off his departure.

West Ham want a reported £8million for the defender, with the Gunners hoping to acquire his services for £3million-£4million cheaper than the asking price. West Ham have already been on the move for a replacement having a £4million bid rejected for Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe.

Reid has come out today to slam reports of him demanding to leave West ham stating:

“Whoever wrote that story of me today is not true. Well done” on his official twitter account.

It remains to be seen what happens with Reid but it’s certainly another twist in the story.

Carl Jenkinson

The Arsenal right back could well be on his way in the other direction, according to the Daily Mail. Apparently West Ham have approached Arsenal about possibly signing the right back on a permanent deal for Carl Jenkinson, to which the Gunners landed a huge £12million asking price for the young wing back.

The England U21 international has been impressive on loan at Upton Park and has improved and developed this season under Sam Allardyce.

Jenkinson has been speaking of his enjoyment at playing at Upton Park:

I didn’t want to have another season sitting on the bench,' Jenkinson said.

'It was starting to drive me up the wall a little bit, I wanted to get out and play football, and I’ve realised that I’m happiest when I’m playing regular football.

'I didn’t want to go on loan to a team that was just going to kick the ball long. I wanted to go to a team where I was going to learn and improve and I think I’m definitely doing that here at West Ham.

'We focus on defending in training and we do a lot of work on one-v-ones and heading and I feel I’ve developed in those areas. He’s given me the licence to get forward and express myself. I know what I’m capable of.'

It’s certainly a high asking price for the defender but I’m hoping Arsenal keep a hold of him. He’s developed greatly at West Ham and would challenge both Debuchy and Chamber for a spot in the Arsenal squad next season.
