According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are in for a fight if they want to sign Ipswich Town’s Tyrone Mings.
Mings has been linked with Arsenal and other Premier League top clubs for some time now, with no bid seeming to be received by Mick Mc Carthy’s side. These fresh reports from the Daily Mail however have hinted that it could be even harder for Arsenal to sign the defender, with Newcastle United said to be interested in him too.
Mings has been in impressive form this season and has been attracting a lot of attention from Premier League clubs. Arsenal were said to be leading the chase, however it seems the Magpies are apparently keen on the 21 year old.
Earlier in the window, a price of around £10million was placed on the young defender’s head, a price which may have made the Gunners reluctant to sign the centre back.
Mick McCarthy seems desperate to keep Mings this window despite the interest from other top clubs in the country, wishing to avail of his services. Mings has made 22 appearances for Ipswich this season and has certainly made an impact on the club. Mings has been a key figure in their push for promotion, playing a key role in their defence.
Arsenal have been in the market for defensive reinforcements this window and have been heavily linked with this defender.
The Gunners have been suffering with injuries in the back and are hoping to patch up those frailties this window, where Mings has been reported to be a target for the Gunners.
It remains to be seen whether the apparent interest from the Magpies will provoke Arsenal into making a bid for the young defender. Only time will tell.
