According to reports today, Spanish side Athletic club Bilbao have made contact about a possible move for Arsenal’s left back Nacho Monreal.
Bilbao have gone through several windows, losing their top players like Llorente. This window however they seem to have their eyes set on a new defender, with the Gunners left back being top of the wish list.
According to Spanish source El Confidential today, the Spanish side had made contact with the North London side, asking for a price for Monreal.
To the joy of many Arsenal fans, Wenger responded claiming the Spaniard is not for sale this window.
His refusal was said to be serious and he is not waiting for an improved offer for the left back.
It is rumoured that Athletic will try their hand again for Monreal in the future, whether that is this or next window, is unclear.
Monreal has been on a rich vein of form for the Gunners at the moment, having a fantastic display against Manchester City highlighting his form.
He has been a fairly underrated player this season for Arsenal and the fact that Wenger is even refusing to give a price for him, shows he is a key part to the Arsenal squad.
Let’s hope the Gunners keep a hold of Monreal as he is a great option for the club at left back.
