La Liga champions Real Madrid have not ruled out the possible sale of French international Karim Benzema in the summer.

Karim Benzema has been heavily linked to many Premier League sides in the past, such as Liverpool, Manchester United and, of course, Arsenal and are said to be monitoring the situation of Los Blancos’ striker.

According to the Daily Star, reports in Spain have been circulating that Madrid are open to selling Benzema, with the hope of cashing in on his form for the side at the end of the season.

According to the source, Benzema is valued at around £40million and has a scoring record which is not short of astonishing. It’s very surprising to think that a player, who has scored 81 goals in 176 appearances in La Liga, is allowed to leave the club, as they look for better strike options.

Benzema is contracted to the La Liga champions until 2019 following his contract extension last year. The Frenchman is in fine form for Madrid this season, scoring in their 2-1 win over Cordoba yesterday.

It had been rumoured that Liverpool are considering making a bid in the region of around £63million for both Benzema and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.

This is not the first big name striker Arsenal have been linked to this window, following many reports the Gunners have bid for PSG’s Edinson Cavani. Either striker would be an unbelievable signing for the Gunners and if Real were to let Benzema go, chances are they would be looking to Cavani or Falcao as his replacement.

This would be a great signing for a player who would certainly sit well into the Arsenal team, however let’s hope Wenger gets his defensive priorities sorted out first, and then we can focus on a star striker.
