Reports in Italy today are reporting that North London side, Tottenham Hotspur, have approached AS Roma over the availability of their forward Mattia Destro. Destro has struggled to get game time in the Roma side this season, being a bit part player and is said to be very frustrated at the Italian side.

Spurs had apparently enquired about Destro in the previous window, however a deal was not close to being made.

However, source TMW are reporting that Tottenham’s move for Destro this window may have some more sustenance.

Roma's sporting director, Walter Sabatini has eyed Shakhtar Donestsk’s Luis Adriano as a possible replacement for the Italian, should he leave this season. It the Ukrainian club permits a move for Luis Adriano to head to Rome, and then Destro will be allowed to leave the club.

It was being rumoured that Spurs defender Vlad Chiriches would be a make-weight in the deal however such rumours have fallen flat at this stage. This is a blow to the Gunners who were said to be one of the front runners in the race to land the Italian. They have been linked with the forward for some time and it was believed that Destro was keen on the move himself.

It’s surprising that Roma boss, Rudi Garcia is allowing a player who was their top scorer last season leave so easily. I’m shocked that a player of Destro’s quality has been basically frozen out of the squad this season after doing so well for tem last season.

It is claimed Destro will only stay at the Italian side if, and only if, he is given the assurances that he will be given more opportunities that he can prove himself at the club, however Roma are unable to agree to this according to reports.
