Arsene Wenger has today spoken about Arsenal’s future transfer activity this window in his press conference before the Aston Villa game.
Arsenal have had a pro-active transfer window, bringing in some much needed defensive units for the club. Krystian Bielik was the first to sign for the Gunners this window for around £2million and is tipped to be in contention for a place in the senior squad straight off the bat.
The Gunners also secured the signature of Villarreal’s Gabriel Paulista this week. The deal was rumoured to be in the region of £13.5million and saw Costa Rica international Joel Campbell move the other way in a loan deal believed to be worth around £750,000.
Arsenal have been linked with several players all window such as Edinson Cavani, Mattia Destro and Moussa Sissoko. However it seems as though Arsenal transfer activity is done for this window according to latest reports from the Arsenal manager. The Arsenal boss has stats that it seems unlikely that a new player will join in the last couple of days of the window however he will once again keep his eye out for a “quality” player.
“If someone stands outside my door and he’s an exceptional player I will open the door.
“But it looks unlikely. I will give you my address if you like!”
It looks like Wenger is done in the window but you can never know with that guy. He could be playing something close to his chest or he might not have anything.
I wouldn’t expect Arsenal to be busy the last couple of days in the window but I seem to remember a deal for Mesut Ozil appearing out of the blue near the end of the window so who knows. As long as he doesn’t panic buy another Andre Santos I’ll be happy.
I’d like to see possibly one more defensive player, perhaps a holding midfielder, be signed before the window shuts, but I would think we would have enough for a top four finish if that is all Arsenal are looking for this season.
