It is the understanding of the BBC and many other media outlets that Chuba Akpom has agreed a new deal at Arsenal football club.

It’s understood that the new contract will be 4 and half years long which will take him up until 2019. This comes after plenty of speculation with Akpom entering the final 6 months of his contract. Akpom was in demand with clubs such as Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham, Manchester City and Dortmund all interested in his signature.

However, it now seems he will shun the interest of all those teams and commit his long term future to Arsenal. This is partly the reason why Sanogo, Podolski and Campbell have gone on loan so that Akpom can get his chance.

This was important as Arsenal were concerned he may not sign a new deal as Akpom wants to play first team football which is understandable as he has a lot of potential. Akpom has been give five appearances since the start of the year and this is the result of that conversation with Wenger.

Wenger has shown faith in the young centre forward as this is understood to be the biggest deal he has ever offered a player of Akpom’s age and experience.

This is great news for all Arsenal fans and staff as Akpom has shown his ability in the limited games he has played. Additionally, he can’t be a bad player with the amount of interest in his services. Hopefully, he can now take his chance and cement a spot in the first team.
