According to LeSport10, Arsenal targets Edinson Cavani is set to leave Ligue 1 side PSG at the end of the season.

Cavani, alongside fellow striker, Ezequiel Lavezzi, have been reportedly unhappy with the Paris club after their punishment for not showing up to a training session in Morocco. Both players spent their winter break in South America and returned to training one day late. Following this manager Laurent Blanc dropped both players.

According to reports both players were banned from selection for two games. Reports have been floating around for some time about Arsene Wenger’s interest in the Uruguayan striker and with these latest rumours, the Gunners boss may look to make a move for him. Arsenal however are not the only club interested in Cavani. Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid are all said to be monitoring the situation of the forward.

Paulista wants to emulate great Brazilian Gunner

Latest Arsenal signing, Gabriel Paulista stated that he wishes to replicate Gilberto Silva’s achievements at the North London club.

In an interview with Arsenal.com, Gabriel believes that Gilberto set the standards of what he wants to achieve at the club:

“I remember Gilberto Silva because he was always with the Brazilian national team,” Gabriel told Arsenal Player. “He was a mirror for every Brazilian player and every child, who looked up to Gilberto Silva as a reference. He was an influence for many players, not only Brazilians but players around the world.”

He noted, “I could see that he was a major element here, he really helped the team, he really is a player I want to emulate because of his type of work and his will to help his team-mates, his will to win as a true Brazilian.

“To me he’s a mirror, so I will always take many good things I saw in him and take it to the pitch, and off the pitch as well, because I think he was an excellent professional who did many good things. I want to be like him, to be able to do the most I can to help everyone,” he concluded.

Gilberto was one of Arsenal’s best midfielders who stationed just in front of the back four. All Gooners out there were great admirers of how he played and commanded the area. It’s not surprising that Gabriel would look up to his fellow Brazilian as an inspiration as he was a core member of the North London side in his 244 appearances for the Gunners.
