Arsene Wenger will be given selection boost ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup fixture against Middlesbrough as Jack Wilshere is set for a premature return.

The English midfielder suffered an injury to his ankle ligament against Manchester United in November that has kept him out of action and was pictured at the training ground recently after an absence of about ten weeks.

However, Arsenal are set to sacrifice another midfielder to the wrath of injuries as Aaron Ramsey limped off the pitch with a hamstring injury against Leicester City on Tuesday night. According to Daily Mail, the 24-year-old may spend a minimum of four weeks on the sidelines.

His current injury is the third of its kind this season as he has been sidelined twice previously due to hamstring issues. Arsene Wenger seems unaware of the reasons behind his mystery injuries as he confessed that he is yet to identify the cause for the midfielder’s recurrence of muscular injuries.

“It looks like [a hamstring]. I don't know yet how bad it is but just visually it didn’t look good, when a guy stops straightaway and sits down, it is not good news. He has a recurrence now of a few muscular injures. We haven’t found out why.”

His void will likely be filled by Tomas Rosicky, who is apparently in a terrific form as of late.

Alexis Sanchez, who was initially believed to have suffered an injury, has now been deemed available for selection for the Gunners’ weekend fixture in a bid to defend their FA Cup trophy.
