Speaking ahead of the Everton game, Arsene Wenger had good news after a nightmarish display on Wednesday night as he stated that he is all but set to welcome Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini back after recuperating from their injuries.
The midfield duo picked up their respective injuries in a span of hours and was replaced by Francis Coquelin and Mesut Ozil in the line-ups. The Frenchman admitted that they are not parts of his plan for the next Premier League outing as he announced that they are not fit for first team action as of yet.
“They come back into normal training today and tomorrow. They are nearly there, not completely there. From Wednesday night I don’t think we have lost anybody. We have no major problems.”
They were struggling to pick up form before being sidelined and now have a mountain to climb as the likes of Santi Cazorla have evolved into undroppable figures at Emirates Stadium. Besides, the current starting eleven now seem to have harmony on the pitch and the manager would not want to disturb the same.
Long terms absentees in Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy may not be seen donning the red and white shirt anytime soon as the Gunners manager stated that they are still weeks away from returning to game action.
“They are still a few weeks away.”
Per Mertesacker was to be blamed for the opening two goals that Arsenal conceded against Monaco and that has few Arsenal supporters asking for his benching in favour of January signing Gabriel Paulista. Even Arsene Wenger admitted that there may be a few changes from the team that started midweek in Champions League.
“I have not made any decision yet for Sunday’s game. We will have to rotate a little bit, because we play Sunday and Wednesday. There will certainly be some changes”.
Arsenal will want to turn things around after a lackluster performance on Wednesday night with a win over the Toffees on Sunday afternoon and a victory would ensure the Gunners keep hold of the third spot for yet another match-week.
