Hull City play host to Arsenal this weekend in a decisive fixture for either team as the result could catalyze the result of the relegation dogfight while it could also present the Gunners with their much-deserved edge over the Manchester clubs.
Speaking to the press ahead of the KC Stadium visit, Arsene Wenger divulged the reason why his side were not able to challenge local-nemesis Chelsea for the title, despite a late all-out attack at the Premier League title.
"It took us some time to find a good balance in the team and we dropped some points this season because of that. We had big injuries after the World Cup and got the squad together even we lost players like Wilshere in November and after again so we were not all together.”
The Frenchman insisted that the champions-elect had a brilliant start to life this campaign with injuries not hampering their progress whilst he had to work out the balance of the team, thereby losing points in crucial fixtures.
"Chelsea had a very good start and that kept them going to the end. We also had to spend some time to find a good balance and dropped points because of that. When you look at games like Stoke away, that was a big disappointment.”
Hull city recently dented Champions League aspirations of fifth placed Liverpool with a narrow victory and Arsene Wenger admitted that he would not take this game so lightly while he also insisted that Steve Bruce could well guide them to safety, despite overcoming their bad situation only recently.
"It looks like [they will stay up] with the last two results. They have made a major step with two great performances. They were in a bad situation but had two amazing results and therefore we are warned we will face a big challenge there."
Arsenal are currently level on points with the second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand and a victory over the Tigers could give them a three-point cushion, thereby making sure the Gunners finish their season on a high note.
