Arsene Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of Julian Draxler and there were claims that Arsenal and Schalke even agreed fee for the highly-rated midfielder last year, but the move was never finalized thanks to the inability of the German club to find his replacement back then.

English media suggested yesterday that the 21-year-old would be plying his trade with a Premier League outfit next season and singled Arsenal out as the favourites, but his agent Roger Wittmann, while speaking to Bild, rubbished the rumours linking his client with the Gunners and left a hint that he may not bid adieu to the Miners any soon.

“There’s nothing in it. English top clubs have already been his interested in Julian Draxler for a few years, but right now there is nothing concrete. Julian must once again be 100 percent fit.”

With Lukas Podolski on the verge of Emirates Stadium exit, Arsenal may want to fill his void with a left winger and at £30million, the German proved to suffice the needs of the London outfit, despite his recent dip thanks to a long-term injury layoff.

However, Arsenal currently have Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla, who could perform the tasks that Julian Draxler does the best, or perhaps, perform the same better than him.
