According to reports, long-term Arsenal targets Morgan Schneiderlin and Jackson Martinez will complete their switch to Manchester United and Atletico Madrid on four-year deals this summer.

Arsenal have been linked to every unsettled and wantaway players in Europe ranging from Charlie Musonda to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but, with the exception of Petr Cech, no other reported target of ours realistically seems to be on his way to Emirates Stadium.

Morgan Schneiderlin saga has been going on for two seasons now, with the media stating that he had become an Arsenal player on either season only for him to be on the headlines for claiming his unrest over not being allowed to play for a Champions League team.

The desire of the French international looks set to be fulfilled by fourth-placed Manchester United, who are believed to have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of the 24-year-old holding midfielder, whom they believe could stabilize the defensive side of their game.

Arsenal currently have four holding midfielders as it is awfully difficult for Arsene Wenger to find suitors for Mathieu Flamini. Mikel Arteta can be expected to be offered the honorary skipper role while it is believed that Abou Diaby is still tied to the club on a pay-as-you-play contract.

While Krystian Bielik is expected to push above his weights to get first-team minutes next season, they boast Francis Coquelin, who single-handedly makes holding midfielder signing redundant. Besides, Jack Wilshere shines in deeper roles for his country and could be call upon when if needed.

Jackson Martinez rumour seemed to have substance to it, but it is now being reported that he would fly to Spain to fill the Mario Mandzukic shaped hole in the Spanish capital. The Colombian was billed to take striking responsibilities over from Olivier Giroud, but his transfer means the London side now have very few options in the market to choose from.

Departures of Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell is all but confirmed and some fans have eventually called out for a striker signing. Given the non-availability of strikers in the transfer market, conversion of Theo Walcott into anĀ out-and-out centre-forward is on the cards.
